A cover number hides the age of the car. It is
also neater. Compare 8I8 FXT with L294 HJK.
Is Shortish and not unattractive;
Is long, untidy and ugly;
Distinctive numbers are upmarket cover numbers. Two examples;

Why sometimes vat and sometimes no vat?
If the vendor is vat registered, vat must be added to the price.
If the vendor is a private individual, no vat is applied.
