Buying & Selling for Profit

Investment

Many traders encourage a client to believe the mark purchased is a 'sound investment' In truth it often is; values have been appreciating around 8% annually; however a mark with a retail price of £2,000 has a trade value of £1,500 and so if John Smith buys at £2,000 it will be nearly four years until trade value has caught up with retail price. Even so, long term, it is probable his mark will appreciate.

Buying with a view to profit

The essential elements are;

  1. Only buy at the bottom end of trade values
  2. Only buy marks which are readily sellable or have a very high profit.
  3. Security. You will have custody of the asset either by having the mark on a vehicle owned by you or on a dept of transport retention document in YOUR name and YOUR address.

Please note; when buying with a view to profit you cannot specify the letters and so William John Edwards cannot instruct my firm to locate a WJE number to sell for profit.

The above is an outline.
